In agriculture, most of the plant protection actives (pesticides, antifungals, etc.) are hydrophobic, making their application a challenge. Conventional technology relies on complex emulsion and microemulsion systems to dissolve these agents before spraying them on plants’ surface. However, this traditional approach tends to lead to poor absorption by the plants, as well as unnecessary dispersion and waste of actives in our environment. Moreover, conventional encapsulation technologies are based on polymers that lead to delivery of microplastics in the environment.
SurfToGreen proposes innovative and smarter solutions that maximizes the benefits while minimizing the impact. Our methodology is designed to minimize the environmental impact of active ingredients, encapsulating the actives within liquid solutions and/or nanogels. These solutions and nanogels are confined into a hydrogel, allowing us to precisely control the release of the actives. Our process takes advantages of the natural power of bacteria and fungi found in soil and plants to degrade the hydrogel, ensuring actives delivery in a sustainable and eco-friendly solution.
Another option we propose is an integrated ADS granular framework made of cellulose and silica, showcasing the extended possibilities for these granules in sustainable agriculture and precise release applications.
